Ingredients

For the casserole
  • 2 can (14.5 oz) green beans cut, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup condensed
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.125 tsp black pepper ground
  • 1.33 cup French fried onions divided

Equipment

  • 1 2-quart casserole dish

Method

Assemble the casserole
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a 2-quart casserole dish, stir together the soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Fold in the green beans and 2/3 cup of the French fried onions.
Bake and top
  1. Bake for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbling around the edges.
  2. Stir the casserole and scatter the remaining 2/3 cup French fried onions over the top.
  3. Bake for 5 minutes, until the onions are golden.

Notes

For the crispest topping, add the final onions only after stirring the casserole. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3–4 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy sauce may separate. For a dairy-free variation, use dairy-free cream of mushroom soup and unsweetened plant milk.
